Volunteering 

Volunteering at The Bereavement Help Point can be very rewarding and you will receive all the training you need.

Support Group Session
BHP Volunteering
Volunteering at The Bereavement Help Point will enable you to be part of an enthusiastic team, meet new people and support your local community.  You will be able to use and develop your skills and know that you are providing local people in your community who have has a bereavement to access much needed support.  â€‹

You will be able to attend regular training, relevant to your role and community and you will be invited to supervision sessions and be fully supported within your role. 

What we ask of volunteers

The Bereavement Help Point volunteers play a huge part in the success of our local Rutland groups. Our Bereavement Help Points are drop in sessions, which run for 2 hours per session. Before joining as a volunteer, you will be asked to undergo a  pre-volunteer check, which includes two references and a DBS check.

 

You will be required to show that you can:​

  • Support and be able to actively listen to bereaved people within a group environment.

  • Work closely with other volunteers within the group, support each other if required.

  • Be available to work on a rota along with other Bereavement Help Point volunteers.

  • Be able to work within personal and organisational boundaries.

  • Be reliable and patient.

  • Have the ability to relate well to others, with a warm and caring approach.

  • Complete Bereavement Help Point mandatory training for the role.

  • Attend regular group supervision sessions.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Commit to a minimum of two hours when required on the volunteer rota.
